Two O’Clock Blog

by Staff Writer / Boston Bruins
This is sort of a late blog for me, but Our Boys are just now finishing warming up in Chi, so updates are a little scarce right now.

I will post again ASAP. I Promise!

Bruins Assistant General Manager Jeff Gorton has checked in from Sweden and gives this assessment of the most recent play at the World Junior Championship.

For those of you who have been absent, the Bruins draftees playing in the WJHC are:

Skaters, Team
Yuri Alexandrov, Russia
Mikko Lehtonen, Finland
Brad Marchand, Canada
Vladimir Sobotka, Czech Republic

Goalie, Team
Tuukka Rask, Finland

Mr. Gorton writes:

Saw Finland play the Czechs and both Lehtonen and Sobotka scored and played well.

Sobotka scored a nice spin-a-rama goal on Tuukka Rask in first period and Lehtonen was a threat throughout game offensively as he banged home a rebound goal in the second period and added an assist.

Rask played a solid game to get a big win for Finland in the standings. His biggest save came with the game 3-2 in the third (a nice toe save that led to a Finland goal).

In the late game I saw the Russians defeat the Swiss 6-0. Alexandrov played a solid game for the Russians, but the Russians had the puck for the entire game so it was tough to evaluate a defenseman.

Speaking of spin-a-ramas it will be really strange to see Denis Savard behind the Blackhawks bench tonight. He seems to have been just what the doctor ordered for the Chicago squad.

Should be a heck of a game.
