Three Bruins to Compete at IIHF World Championship
by Eric Russo / Boston BruinsBostonBruins.com – Three members of the Boston Bruins will be competing at the IIHF Men's Ice Hockey World Championship in Russia.
Frank Vatrano was added to Team USA’s roster on Tuesday afternoon, joining Brad Marchand (Canada), and David Pastrnak (Czech Republic) as the Bruins’ representatives at the tournament, which begins Friday and lasts through May 22.
Vatrano, who was a member of the U.S. National Development Team from 2010-12, also represented the United States at the 2012 U-18 World Championship, where he scored two goals and added two assists in helping the team to a gold medal.
Pastrnak has played for the Czech Republic at the U-18 World Championship (2013 and 2014) and the World Junior Championship (2014, 2015, 2016). He earned a silver medal at the U18s in 2014. The 19-year-old has tallied four goals and 17 assists in 26 games at those tournaments.
This marks the first time Marchand will be competing on Team Canada’s Men’s National Team. He previously suited up for Canada at the 2007 and 2008 World Junior Championships, recording a combined six goals and two assists in 13 games, and winning gold in both tournaments.
