Thornton to Host Cuts for a Cause

by Staff Writer / Boston Bruins
BOSTON, MA - On Wednesday, March 31, Bruins forward Shawn Thornton and other members of the Boston Bruins are teaming up with 98.5 the Sports Hub to host the third annual "Cuts for a Cause" to benefit the Boston Bruins Foundation and MassGeneral Hospital for Children’s Pediatric Oncology Unit from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Ned Devine's (1 Faneuil Hall Market Place, Boston, MA 02109).

Thornton and his teammates will have their heads shaved by auction winners on stage, in front of fans to show their support and raise money for children battling cancer.

Fans can support the event, which will be hosted by Fred "Toucher" Toettcher and Rich Shertenlieb of the Toucher & Rich show on 98.5 The Sports Hub, by purchasing a ticket to the event or by bidding on the opportunity to shave one of the Bruins player’s heads. Ticket sales and the auction bidding will begin on Wednesday, March 17.

Tickets to the event can be purchased for $10 at www.bostonbruins.com beginning Wednesday, March 17. In addition, the auction for head-shavers will be held at www.auction.nhl.com. The top bidders will win the opportunity to shave the head of a Boston Bruins player on stage at "Cuts for a Cause".

The admission ticket includes the chance for fans to meet the team throughout the afternoon and raffle tickets to win autographed Boston Bruins memorabilia will be available throughout the event. Depending on availability, $20 tickets will be available at the door the day of the event.

All of the money raised at the event will be donated through the Boston Bruins Foundation and will benefit MassGeneral Hospital for Children’s HOPES program. The program provides music and art therapy to the children and their siblings during their cancer treatments. The Cuts for a Cause funds will be used to purchase portable art and music media stations, including a portable recording studio so the HOPES therapists can work with kids throughout the cancer center.
