BOSTON BRUINS ASSIGN JOONAS KEMPPAINEN TO PROVIDENCE: Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced today, February 5 that the team has assigned forward Joonas Kemppainen to Providence. Kemppainen will play for the P-Bruins in Friday’s game against Albany. Kemppainen, 27, is currently in the midst of his first NHL season and has appeared in 35 games with Boston, tallying one goal and two assists for three points.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN: The Bruins kick off a six-game road trip next week when they play the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday evening. The Bruins’ 16-5-3 record on the road is ranked third in the NHL and second in the Eastern Conference. During this road trip, the B’s will face two Eastern Conference teams and four Western Conference teams. This road trip will span 11 days and cover 7,918.7 miles.
BRUINS CAPTAIN ZDENO CHARA TO LEAD BRUINS 9TH ANNUAL PJ DRIVE PRESENTED BY FREIHOFER’S: The Boston Bruins are teaming up with Freihofer’s and Cradles to Crayons throughout the month of February to present the ninth Annual “PJ Drive” to benefit Massachusetts’ underprivileged youth. The PJ Drive provides new, unused pajamas to children in need across Massachusetts; Bruins Captain Zdeno Chara will lead this year’s PJ Drive for the second time. Over 75,000 Massachusetts children have received PJ’s through the Bruins PJ drive over the past eight years. The Boston Bruins will be hosting an in-game PJ collection drive at the TD Garden on Saturday, February 6th during their game against the Buffalo Sabres. Fans entering the Bruins game who donate a pair of new pajamas or $10 to Cradles to Crayons will be entered into a raffle to win Bruins prizes. STAT OF THE WEEK: Since ceding a power play goal in the third period of their 2-1 win at the Islanders on Nov. 8 (their 14th game of the season), the Bruins have successfully killed 111-of-122 (91.0%) opponent power play opportunities. The NHL record for penalty kill percentage in a season is 89.6%, set by the 2011-12 New Jersey Devils.
SUPERB SPECIAL TEAMS: The Bruins power play is ranked second in the NHL. The team is 35-for-143 (24.5%), with the highest percentage being 25.0% (WSH). The Bruins penalty kill has also improved to 84.4%, good for fourth best in the league.
GIRLS LOVE HOCKEY CLINIC PRESENTED BY ALEX AND ANI CONTEST: On Tuesday, February 23 The Boston Bruins Youth Hockey Development team will host Girls Love Hockey presented by ALEX AND ANI at Agganis Arena in Boston, MA. 30 members of ‘Mite/8U', 'Squirt/10U', 'Pee Wee/12U', or 'Bantam/14U' girls will selected at random to participate in an on ice clinic at Boston University’s Agganis Arena. All players will receive a Bruins jersey, and an ALEX AND ANI bangle. To enter for the chance to win, complete the entry form on www.BostonBruins.com/GirlsLoveHockey. Please note that all entrants must be currently enrolled in organized youth hockey. The deadline to enter is Friday, February 12 at 3 p.m.
BEHIND THE B: The next episode of Behind the B airs this Thursday, February 11 at 6:30 p.m. on NESN! BOSTON BRUINS ALUMNI TO PARTICPATE IN GAME BENEFITTING JIMMY FUND: On Saturday, February 6, 2016 the Boston Bruins Alumni will take on the Dana Farber Rink Rats at the LoConte Memorial Rink in Medford at 3 p.m. The game will benefit the Dana Farber – Jimmy Fund. BRUINS ACADEMY: The next episode of “Bruins Academy” will air on Saturday, February 13 at 12:30 p.m. The second episode of “Bruins Academy” aired on NESN on January 19 and the premiere episode aired on Sunday, December 20. The series is a fast-paced, educational, Black & Gold-themed program created for youth who love the game of hockey. One 30-minute episode will air per month on NESN, and the premiere episode can be viewed on www.BostonBruins.com and on the Bruins mobile app.
ECHOSTOR GOALS FOR CHARITY: For every goal the Bruins score during the 2015-16 season, EchoStor will donate $100 to the Boston Bruins Foundation. To date, EchoStor has raised $14,900 for the Bruins Foundation.

BRUINS ON THE AIRWAVES: Bruins defenseman Torey Krug has been confirmed as a weekly call-in guest with 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Scott Zolak and Marc Bertrand (Zo and Bertrand), which airs weekdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Adam McQuaid will be a regular guest on 100.7 WZLX with Kevin Karlson and Pete McKenzie (Karlson & McKenzie), which airs weekdays from 5:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Call-in days and times are dependent upon the B’s schedule. UPCOMING GAMES BROADCAST SCHEDULE: NESN reporters Jack Edwards, Andy Brickley and Sarah Davis will be covering the Bruins’ upcoming matchups against the Buffalo Sabres on February 6, the Los Angeles Kings on February 9 and the Winnipeg Jets on February 11. Sportsnet will also be broadcasting the February 9 game against Los Angeles. The tandem of Dave Goucher and Bob Beers will handle all radio duties on 98.5 The Sports Hub. For the February 9 game vs. Los Angeles, former Boston Bruin Milan Lucic is expected to play his first game at TD Garden since being traded on June 26, 2015. Lucic played in Boston for eight seasons, beginning with the 2007-2008 season. During that span, he played in 566 games, accruing 139-203=342 totals with 772 penalty minutes.
