The Bruins Lose a Good Friend

by Staff Writer / Boston Bruins
Many fans of the Black & Gold will remember a story featuring Michael Visone which appeared on NESN's The Buzz during the 2006-07 season. The piece highlighted Mike's courage in the face of Juvenile Huntington’s Disease.

The Boston Bruins are sad to report that Michael, 23, died on April 25th after a long and courageous battle with the ailment. We send out heartfelt condolences to Mike's family and friends in the knowledge that we have lost one of our biggest fans.
He was born on September 27, 1984, son of Gayle and Jim Eason of Peabody and John Visone also of Peabody. He graduated from Peabody High School in 2003.
Mike loved all sports. He was an avid Bruins fan, but his favorite player was his long-time friend, Sergei Samsonov.

Mike loved being around people, had a great smile, sense of humor and was very caring and in tune to other people’s needs. Mike always made the best of what he had as he continued to lose his battle with Huntington’s disease. Mike loved his job at Hannaford’s Supermarket in West Peabody where he met some of his closest friends during his five years there. He was the inspiration for Mike’s Wish Foundation, which assists families living with Juvenile Huntington’s disease.
Former Bruin Sergei Samsonov was Visone's favorite player.
Mike is survived by three sisters, Jolie Eason of Warwick, Rhode Island, Jamie and Lyndsy Eason, three brothers John Visone, Jr., Nicholas and James (JT) Eason all of Peabody. He is the grandson of Mary Visone of Middleton, the late Sal Visone and Robert White of Peabody and the late Patricia White. He is also survived by his niece Becky Kerzner and nephew Zachary Michael Kerzner of Warwick, Rhode Island.
His funeral services were held on Tuesday morning at the West Congregational Church in Peabody, MA with burial following in Oak Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mike’s Wish Foundation, 54 Goodale Street, Peabody, MA 01960. Please be sure to visit for information about Juvenile Huntington's Disease and to remember Mike.
