Ok B's fan i've got some news, reviews and to do's!
We will start with the big news.
As most of you know I have been MIA, on the shelf, injured or whatever you want to call it.
The good news is that I have now been cleared to start working out and skating!
So now the hard work really starts for me to get myself back into game shape. As we all know you don't want to start too early and have a set back so I'm taking things slow and attacking each day as it comes.
As for a time line: I am not sure when I will be back up to full strength but I am shooting for late Feb to make my return. Even though I am not playing its always great to be back at the rink around all your teammates telling jokes and hearing stories.
And thanks again for all of the well wishes and messages of support.
On to the Reviews: I have one GREAT movie and I have one that just doesn't do much for me. We will start with The Bucket List.
The Bucket List Starring: Jack Nicholson, Morgan Freeman, Sean Hayes, Beverly Todd Directed By: Rob Reiner Released By: Warner Bros. Run Time: 97 min. Genre: Action and Adventure, Comedy, Drama Rating: PG-13
The rundown: Nicholson and Freeman play two terminally ill cancer patients that find out their fates with in hours of each other. Instead spending the last months of their life slowly dying in front of friends and family, they choose to drop everything they have known and take off on and adventure that takes them around the world. They decide to make a list of all the things they want to do before they die (a bucket list, as in "kick the bucket") and decide to do them together.
Only strangers only a few weeks earlier, they soon realize that they are doing more for each other than any of their family members could do are discovering new things within themselves that help them accept their fate.
Listen up, B's fans: I recommend this movie to EVERYONE!!!
This movie goes right into my top ten. I have actually seen it twice already. Nicholson and Freeman were awesome and it's a great story with a very good message. You will love this movie. I give this one 5 out 5 stars!
On to the second movie, There Will Be Blood.
There Will Be Blood Starring: Daniel Day-Lewis, Paul Dano, Kevin J. O'Connor, Ciaran Hinds Directed By: Paul Thomas Anderson Released By: Paramount Vantage Theatrical Release Date: 12/26/2007 Run Time: 158 min. Genre: Drama Rating: R
The rundown: I know, I know, you hear the title and you think NO WAY! Well I'll be straight up with you. It's an 'okay' movie, not great. And NO it's not a bloody, gruesome movie at all.
However, if you appreciate acting and how one actor can make a movie, you will think it's a good movie as Daniel Day-Lewis (Bill the Butcher from Gangs of New York) is unreal in this film.
I am going to keep this short 'cause there isn't a whole lot to tell. Daniel Plainview, (Day-Lewis) a failed sliver miner, happens upon oil. Plainview embarks on a journey to mastermind the oil business and push his soon to be powerful enterprise to the untapped ocean of oil out west.
Through this process he works through power struggles with the local "prophet" that continues to challenge his techniques, his faith and the future of oil. And since most of you haven't seen it, that's all I'm going to go into for the plot. Obviously, there are other plot points and surprises that take place, but you get the point.
As for my rating I would only give it 1 to 1 1/2 out of 5. Daniel day-Lewis is awesome but the rest of the movie is kind of a let down.
Ok last but not least my TO DO for you!
To do this week: If you have not yet had time to play a Wii, call up all your friends and figure out who has one and get yourself the sports package.
You will have the opportunity to choose from Tennis, golf, baseball, boxing, and bowling. By the way, my favorite would have to be Tennis -- by far! Bowling and golf are also great games to play and can be quite challenging.
You have the choice to play by yourself or alongside/against up to 4 players. It's a great time competing against friends.
In any case, I give the Wii my seal of approval. So go out there and enjoy the magic playing tennis or golf in your own home!
