Stuart to Buy "Seats for Soldiers"

by Staff Writer / Boston Bruins
BOSTON, MA - The Boston Bruins will honor local military members, veterans and their families at "Military Appreciation Night" on Thursday, November 12 at 7:00 p.m. during the Bruins/Panthers game at the TD Garden. To show his support for the armed forces, Bruins defenseman Mark Stuart purchased $5,000 worth of tickets to the Bruins/Panthers game that he will give to local military members and their families.

Bruins fans can follow Stuart’s lead through the team's "Seats for Soldiers" program. The Seats for Soldiers program enables fans to purchase specially-priced $50.50 Lower Level Seats that will be donated to the Boston Bruins Foundation who in turn will donate them to the USO New England. For every seat purchased, the donor will be entered into a private drawing for the opportunity to purchase a pair of tickets to the 2010 NHL/Bridgestone Winter Classic. * To purchase tickets for donation please visit

The Boston Bruins will also be hosting a collection drive at the game through Operation Homefront New England to send care packages to members of the military from the New England area currently serving overseas. Bruins fans can donate a number of items including: travel size shampoo, soap, deodorant, dental floss, playing cards, crosswords, pen/pencils, AA and C batteries as well as an encouraging note to a soldier or make a monetary donation to purchase a complete care package. A donation of 20 dollars will provide a member of the military with a complete care package. All Bruins fans choosing to make a donation will receive a raffle ticket for the opportunity to win Boston Bruins autographed merchandise.

The soldiers and their families will be honored throughout the game through photo montages on the Garden HDX, Zamboni rides, and video messages while a select few will have the chance to shake hands with the team as they leave the locker room during intermissions.

*No purchase is necessary for the drawing, see for complete rules.
