The P-Bruins took the 1-0 advantage at the 11:16 mark of the opening period. Jeff LoVecchio held the puck along the right boards and worked it into the corner for Zach Hamill
. He tossed the puck into the slot where Trevelyan was waiting. Trevelyan shot the puck into the upper corner of the net for his third goal of the playoffs. Providence went ahead 2-0 at the 17:35 mark. Sean Curry took a shot from the blue line and Pirates net minder Mike McKenna made the save. The rebound went to Pascal Pelletier in the corner and he sent the puck to the left face off circle for Karsums, who netted his second goal of the post-season. Providence went into the first intermission with a 2-0 lead.
In the second period, The P-Bruins took a 3-0 lead at the 0:20 mark. Matt Lashoff held the puck behind his own net and sent it off to Jonathan Sigalet. He worked the puck up the boards to Bitz who skated into the zone and shot the puck past McKenna and into the net for his first post-season goal. Providence led after two periods 3-0.
In third period, the P-Bruins added a goal at the 1:26 mark. Karsums tallied his third goal of the post-season with Pelletier and Vladimir Sobotka recording the assists. Portland cut the P-Bruins lead to 4-1 at the 7:22 mark. Andrew Ebbett netted his second goal of the playoffs, while Brendan Mikkelson and Joe Callahan picked up the assists. Providence went ahead 5-1 at the 8:11 mark. With a delayed penalty upcoming, Nate Thompson dumped the puck into the zone, where Matt Hunwick raced after it behind his net. Hunwick, while lying on the ice, passed the puck in front of the net to Nokelainen who scored his first goal of the post-season. Providence added an insurance goal, while on the power play at the 10:03 mark. Karsums scored his third goal of the game and fourth of the playoffs from just outside the net on the right side. Pelletier and Sobotka grabbed the assists. The P-Bruins finished off the scoring at the 11:47 mark. stopped 11 of 12 shots and Jordan Sigalet stopped all seven shots for the P-Bruins, while McKenna made eleven saves and Gerald Coleman made 15 saves for the Pirates. The P-Bruins went 1-for-2 on the power play and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.
The P-Bruins continue the 2008 Calder Cup playoffs with Game 3 of the Atlantic Division Finals at The Cumberland County Civic Center Friday at 7:05 p.m.
