BOSTON, MA - To help children in need throughout Massachusetts, on Monday, January 18, the Boston Bruins and BJ’s Wholesale Club are hosting the Third Annual PJ Drive to benefit Cradles to Crayons during "Kids Day" at the TD Garden, which will take place at the Bruins/Senators game beginning at 1:00 p.m. Every child and Bruins fan that donates a new, unused pair of pajamas to the PJ Drive will receive a Bruins night-light thanks to TD Insurance. In addition, those Bruins fans choosing to participate in the PJ Drive will receive a raffle ticket for the chance to win Boston Bruins team autographed memorabilia.

To start the "Kids Day" festivities, 11-year-old Bruins fan Kieran Jacobs will perform both the Canadian and American National anthems. Throughout the afternoon kids and their families can visit the Kids Zone at Section seven on level four of the concourse to pick up their balloon animals and to have their faces painted.

The Third Annual PJ Drive officially kicked off Monday, January 11 when Bruins defenseman Dennis Wideman visited BJ’s Wholesale Club in Stoneham, where he signed autographs and took photos with everyone that donated a new, unused pair of pajamas to the PJ Drive.  He also personally donated $1,000 worth of pajamas. Throughout the month of January, fans, families, schools and corporations are encouraged to make donations to help underprivileged children statewide.

"During these difficult economic times many families are struggling to provide even the very basic items for their children. Cradles to Crayons has experienced close to a 30% rise in demand for services," says Lynn Margherio, Founder & CEO of Cradles to Crayons. "Often, something as simple as a new pair of pajamas can feel out of reach for a struggling family. Thanks to the Boston Bruins and BJs Wholesale Club, thousands of disadvantaged kids across the state will be warm and cozy when they go to sleep."

There are a number of ways to get involved with the 2010 PJ Drive...

This year schools statewide are invited to participate in the collections. All grade levels K-5 are welcome to sign-up. The class that collects the most pajamas wins an in-school ice cream party and visit with the Bruins mascot, Blades, compliments of BJ’s Wholesale Club.  All of the registration information can be found here.
