BOSTON, MA - The Bruins will hold a number of fan initiatives before their home playoff opener, against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday, April 16, including a "Playoff Takeoff Fan Fest," presented by Jet Blue and an opportunity for fans to win a luxury suite for 14 to Game 2 of the Bruins/Canadiens series. Additionally, the Bruins will recognize the NCAA National Champion Boston University men’s hockey team through an on-ice ceremony during the first intermission of Thursday’s game.
"Playoff Takeoff Fan Fest" presented by Jet Blue will begin at 4:30 p.m. and conclude at 6:30 p.m. in the West Plaza outside of the TD Banknorth Garden. The Fan Fest will be hosted by former Bruin Lyndon Byers from WAAF 107.3 FM’s Hill-Man Morning show and will feature a variety of interactive games and live music by Boston-based band Hypercane. The first 1,000 fans into the event will receive a limited edition Bruins t-shirt. There is no cost for fans to attend the Fan Fest.
Also at the event, fans will have the opportunity to meet Bruins Alumni, including Terry O'Reilly, and take pictures in the original Boston Garden penalty box. Bruins fans can also write the team good luck messages on the Fan Fest wall. Throughout the evening, the Boston Bruins Ice Girls and the Boston Bruins mascot, Blades, will be mingling with Bruins fans and taking photographs.
Floyd's Barbershop will also be at the Fan Fest shaving and trimming beards for those fans that are participating in the Bruins "Beard-A-Thon." The shave, which includes a hot towel treatment, is a $10 donation. Fans who can’t grow a beard also have the option to purchase beards or get one painted on their face for a $5 donation. The Bruins are also raffling off a Luxury Suite (14 seats) for Game 2 of the Bruins/Canadiens playoff series, which will be played on Saturday, April 18 at 8:00 p.m. ET. Raffle tickets will be sold on NetRaffle.org and start at $2/ticket, with a minimum purchase of five tickets. The drawing will take place Friday, April 17. All the money raised in the raffle will go to the Celebrities for Charity Foundation and the Boston Bruins Foundation to benefit New England Area Charities.
