PROSPECT DANTON HEINEN NAMED ROOKIE OF THE MONTH: Bruins prospect and University of Denver freshman forward, Danton Heinen, was announced as the Hockey Commissioners’ Association National Rookie of the Month for February. Heinen, 19, registered 15 points (5-10) in seven games played last month, leading the National Collegiate Hockey Conference in points as well as plus/minus rating (+12). The Boston Bruins prospect and reigning NCHC Rookie of the Month currently leads the conference in scoring with 14-27=41totals on the season, ranking second in the nation in points by a freshman trailing only Boston University forward Jack Eichel (18-37=55). Overall, Heinen is tied for 10th place in the NCAA scoring race for 2014-15. He was named the NCHC Rookie of the Week for Feb. 23-28 one week after capturing the conference’s Offensive Player of the Week Award. Heinen was drafted by Boston in the fourth round (116th overall) in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

SPOONMAN: Per Elias, Ryan Spooner is the first Boston Bruins player to score the first goal of their NHL career in overtime since Steve Heinze did so on March 28, 1992.  Spooner scored the overtime winner on February 27 against the Devils in New Jersey.

The Bruins have 19 games remaining on their schedule. They will play eight at home and 11 on the road; 18 vs. Eastern teams (12 Atlantic, 6 Metropolitan) and one vs. the West (Anaheim on 3/26); nine are vs. teams currently in playoff position and nine are against teams currently out of a post-season berth (3 vs. Florida, 2 vs. Ottawa, 1 each vs. Philadelphia, Toronto, Buffalo and Carolina).
