BOSTON, MA – Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today, Tuesday, January 6, that the club has recalled forward David Pastrnak from the Providence Bruins (American Hockey League).  Pastrnak will join the team for practice on Tuesday at TD Garden and travel with the team to Pittsburgh, PA.

Pastrnak appeared in five games for Boston, including his NHL debut against the Pittsburgh Penguins on November 24.  The forward picked up his first NHL point and assist on December 1, when he assisted on Brad Marchand’s second period goal against the Anaheim Ducks.

In 24 games with Providence, Pastrnak has notched 10 goals and 17 assists for 27 points with a plus-14 rating. The forward’s 10 goals and 27 points lead Providence, while his 17 assists rank second the team to Alexander Khokhlachev’s 18 helpers.

Pastrnak played for the Czech Republic in the World Juniors tournament where he led the team in points (seven) and assists (six), while also potting one goal.

Pastrnak, a 6'0’’, 167-pound native of Havirov, Czech Republic, spent the majority of the 2013-14 season with Södertälje of the Swedish B League (Allsvenskan League) where he appeared in 36 games and accumulated eight goals and 16 assists for 24 points. The forward also skated in one game for the Södertälje J20 team (SuperElite) where he totaled two points with a goal and an assist.

The forward played on the Czech Republic U18 World Junior team where he served as assistant captain, the Czech Republic U18 International Junior team, the Czech Republic U20 World Junior team, and the Czech Republic U20 International Junior team. During his time with those teams he totaled seven goals and 16 assists for 23 points in 35 games played.

Pastrnak was drafted by the Bruins in the first round (25th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. The forward attended Bruins Development Camp in July of 2014.
