BOSTON, MA – Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Adam McQuaid from the Providence Bruins (American Hockey League) on an emergency basis. McQuaid has joined the team in Washington DC and will participate in the Bruins’ morning skate on Monday, April 5 at the Verizon Center at 11:00 a.m.
The 23-year-old McQuaid made his Bruins/NHL debut on December 19, 2009 in Toronto and has skated in fifteen games this year for Boston, registering 1 goal and 19 penalty minutes. He has played in 32 games this season for Providence and has registered 3-7=10 totals and 66 penalty minutes.
The 6’5” 209-pound Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island native was originally drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the second round (55th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. McQuaid was traded to Boston from Columbus for a 2007 fifth round draft pick on May 16, 2007.
