Bruins make 19 assignments following rookie camp

Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the Bruins have made assignments on 19 players following the conclusion of the team’s rookie camp.

Returned to their junior teams were forwards Anton Hedman (Sudbury/OHL), Milan Lucic (Vancouver/WHL), Brad Marchand (Val d’Or/QMJHL), Levi Nelson (Swift Current/WHL) and Lukas Vantuch (Lethbridge/WHL) and defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk (Halifax/QMJHL).

The following players who had been at Boston’s rookie camp on try-out agreements were released from Boston’s camp but invited to the AHL Providence Bruins training camp which opens on September 22: Forwards Ned Havern, Dan Sparre and Mark Tobin; and defensemen Peter Hafner, Jonathan Paiement and Jay Pemberton.

The following players had been invited to Boston’s rookie camp on try-out agreements and were released from camp: Forward Mathieu Curadeau; defensemen Andrew Andricopoulos, Mike Busto, Mike Hartwick, Justin Wallingford and Brian Yandle; and goaltender Ryan Mior.

The Boston Bruins open their main training camp on Thursday, September 14 at Ristuccia Memorial Arena in Wilmington, MA. There will be 49 players reporting, including the injured Alex Zhamnov and the three winning contestants from the NESN “Be A Bruin” show. The veterans reporting on that date will skate from 11:15 am – 12:00 noon. Rookies attending main camp from rookie camp will not skate on Thursday, but will have off-ice workouts. The Bruins open their 2006 pre-season schedule vs. the New Jersey Devils at Tsongas Arena in Lowell, MA on Sunday, September 17 at 1:00 p.m.
