BOSTON, MA –
Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has assigned goaltender Dany Sabourin to the Providence Bruins (American Hockey League).
Sabourin earned his first recall to Boston on Friday, March 5 and served as the backup to Tim Thomas
in the team’s games against the Islanders on March 6 and Penguins on March 7. He has played 44 games this season for the Providence Bruins and has registered a 23-20-0 record with three shutouts, a 2.63 Goals Against Average and .914 save percentage. The 10-year-pro is a veteran of 57 NHL games with the Flames, Canucks and Penguins and owns an 18-25-4 record. Originally drafted by the Calgary Flames in the fourth round (108th overall) of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, Sabourin was signed by the Bruins as a free agent on July 7, 2009.
The Bruins continue their seven-game road trip when they visit the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday, March 9 at 7:00 p.m. ET at the Air Canada Centre.
