Boston Bruins Sign Lehtonen and Sobotka

Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has signed right-winger Mikko Lehtonen (right) and center Vladimir Sobotka to entry-level contracts.  Per team policy, terms of the deals are not disclosed.


Lehtonen, who was acquired by the Bruins with the 83rd overall selection in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, hails from Espoo, Finland and has been playing for Espoo in the top Finnish League for the past two seasons.  In the club's 2006-2007 season, the 20-year old right-winger played in 39 games, scored six goals and tallied nine assists.

Sobotka, a Trebic, Czech Republic native, was drafted by the Bruins with the 105th overall selection in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.  For the past three seasons, the 19-year old center has been playing for Slavia in the Czech Republic's top league.  In the 2006-2007 Slovakian league season Sobotka, who stands at 5-10, 183 pounds, played in 33 games, scored seven goals and tallied six assists.
