Lundstrom Wins Silver at World Juniors

Blues goalie prospect Niklas Lundstrom helped Sweden earn a silver medal at the 2013 World Junior Championships in Ufa, Russia on Saturday morning.

Lundstrom made 31 saves in a 3-1 loss to the United States in Saturday's Gold Medal game.

Overall in the tournament, Lundstrom posted a 2-1 record alongside a 1.60 goals-against average and a .944 save percentage. His tournament highlights include helping Sweden to a 3-2 shootout win against Russia in the semifinals in which he stopped all three Russian attempts in the shootout.

Lundstrom, 19, has posted a 3-8-0 record with a 3.06 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage in 11 games for the Swedish Elite League’s (SEL) AIK. Previously, the 6-foot-2, 190-pound goaltender represented Sweden at the 2011 IIHF World U18 Championship, posting a 4-2-0 record along with a 2.14 goals-against average and .910 save percentage.

The Varmdo, Sweden native was originally drafted by the Blues in the fifth round (132nd overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
