HAZELWOOD, MO - Defenseman Carl Gunnarsson has been medically cleared to play and declared himself ready to go in a conversation with reporters Monday after practice.
Head Coach Ken Hitchcock said Gunnarsson would be in the lineup Tuesday when the Blues meet the Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center at 7:30 p.m.
Gunnarsson had been recovering from a hip injury sustained last season.
“It feels pretty good,” Gunnarsson said after practice. “The last hurdle I would say is to get a game in. That’s when you know how it feels. That’s going to be different than practice, different than skating around on your own. Just get in there, see how that feels.”
The 27-year-old defenseman was acquired by the Blues in a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs at the 2014 NHL Draft. He’s played in five NHL seasons, all with the Maple Leafs.
In 304 NHL games, he has scored 15 goals and tallied 71 assists (86 points) and a plus-14 rating.
