Bouwmeester to Join Canada at World Cup

ST. LOUIS - Blues defenseman Jay Bouwmeester has been added to Team Canada’s roster for the upcoming 2016 World Cup of Hockey.

Bouwmeester joins Blues teammates Alex Pietrangelo (Team Canada), Vladimir Tarasenko (Team Russia), Jori Lehtera (Team Finland), Dmitrij Jaskin (Team Czech Republic), Vladimir Sobotka (Team Czech Republic) and Colton Parayko (Team North America) as one of seven Blues that will participate in the tournament.

Alexander Steen was named to Team Sweden’s roster in May, but will not participate due to offseason shoulder surgery.

The World Cup of Hockey is an eight-team tournament which runs Sept. 17 through Oct. 1 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto. Games will be televised on ESPN in the United States and TVA Sports in Canada.
