Blues to Participate in Prospects Tourney

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced Tuesday the roster that will participate in the 2010 NHL Prospects Tournament, September 11-15, in Traverse City, Michigan.

There are eight teams playing in this year’s tournament and the Blues will face-off in a three-game round robin tournament against the Dallas Stars, Detroit Red Wings and Tampa Bay Lightning. Other teams included in the tournament are the Atlanta Thrashers, Carolina Hurricanes, Columbus Blue Jackets and New York Rangers.

The Blues have won the tournament four times and this year’s roster includes draft picks, signed players and tryout players. The roster is highlighted by Alex Pietrangelo (1st round selection, 4th overall in 2008), Philip McRae (2nd round, 33rd overall in 2008), Ian Cole (1st round, 18th overall in 2007), Jake Allen (2nd round, 34th overall in 2008) and Brett Ponich (2nd round, 48th overall in 2009).

In addition, the roster includes 2010 draft selections, Cody Beach (5th round, 134th overall) and Stephen MacAulay (6th round, 164th overall).

The team will practice at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 10 at St. Louis Mills before departing for Traverse City and will be available to the media after practice. This practice session is also open to the public.
