Players Will Compete For The Wendy Pleau Determination Cup

The Blues training camp teams will compete for the Wendy Pleau Determination Cup.
ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today that beginning Thursday at 11:30 a.m., Blues players will compete for the Wendy Pleau Determination Cup. The tournament is named in honor of current Blues General Manager Larry Pleau’s wife, Wendy, who is currently battling cancer. Wendy has been involved with charities in the St. Louis community for several years including Cardinal Glennon, Circle of Concern, Protestant Children’s Home, Andy Grimm’s Dogs and many cancer charities.

Fifty-eight players will be divided into three teams (Team Gassoff, Team Plager, Team Sutter) and there will be a game everyday during camp at 11:30 a.m. that follows practices at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. The goalies will have special practices at 12:45 p.m. followed by a 1:40 p.m. practice. Each game is worth two points for a win and there will be a shootout at the end of each game for teams to earn an extra point. All training camp practices and scrimmages at Scottrade Center are free of charge and open to the public.

Blues fans of all ages will not want to miss the first Blues FANfest set for Saturday, September 15th at Scottrade Center from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. This free event will offer fans a chance to see the Blues on ice during training camp.

Fans will also have the opportunity to:
  • Meet their favorite Blues players throughout the day at autograph sessions and other activities.
  • Enjoy free hot dogs, popcorn and soda.
  • Every fan who attends will receive a ticket voucher for a designated Blues pre-season game.
  • Concourse activities include air hockey, slapshot, bungee run and much more.
  • Fans who purchase full season tickets this week will be invited to have dinner with Paul Kariya on Saturday after FANfest.
In preparation for the 2007-08 NHL regular season, the Blues will play seven preseason games beginning on September 16 vs. Atlanta at Scottrade Center. The Blues’ other preseason opponents are Dallas, Chicago and Minnesota, including other home games on Friday, Sept. 28 (Wild) and Saturday, Sept. 29 (Blackhawks).
