ST. LOUIS - Blues forward Patrik Berglund has been cleared for contact and wants to skate in a few full practices before determining when he’s ready to return to the lineup.
Berglund skated with the team Monday and said the shoulder felt good after taking a few bumps.
“It feels good, that’s a positive,” Berglund said after practice. “The next step is just to be ready conditioning-wise and obviously strength-wise, too. That’s where we’re at right now. I’m still rehabbing, lifting in the gym to get my strength up. It feels good.”
“He took a lot of one-on-one, two-on-two contact, and that’s a good step,” Blues Head Coach Ken Hitchcock said. “We’ll see how he feels tomorrow, and if he feels fine tomorrow, we’ll just amp it up to a normal player status and see from there.
“Early in the new year, we’re anticipating him getting ready to play.”
Berglund has been out of the lineup all season after sustaining a shoulder injury training in the summer. He was to be re-evaluated four months after surgery, which was performed on Aug. 28.
