The Blue Jackets begin their second swing out west in Calgary tonight. When all is said and done Sunday night, they will have played seven of their first 10 games in the Pacific or Mountain time zones. No one is complaining... the Jackets are off to their best start in franchise history at 5-1-0 and if your going to be a top team and a playoff mainstay you "MUST" consistently win on the road.
Tonight's game will be a good one. The Flames will be out for retribution after last Tuesday's 2-1 loss, a game Jackets coach Ken Hitchcock flat out says... "The win over Calgary was our best game of the season to date."
No lineup changes for the Jackets tonight, meaning Steve Mason starts in goal and Nikita Filatov is a healthy scratch along with Mike Blunden. I wouldn't be surprised though to see both play in Edmonton Thursday although I believe tonight's game will go a long way towards determining the team Hitch ices for the Oilers.
Mike Commodore skated aggressively again today and he is getting closer to returning to the line-up.
As for the Flames... they play game two of a lengthy five game homestand over a 21-day stretch! Incredible isn't it?
We all know the thorn in the side former Blue Jacket winger Curtis Glencross has been to the Jackets since he was traded to Edmonton (signed by Calgary as a free agent). Tonight another former Jacket makes his Flames debut when Aaron Johnson plays his first game since being traded by the Blackhawks 12 days ago. Johnson is looking forward to playing against his good friend and former teammate Rick Nash.
