Jan. 6:
Assigned C Derek MacKenzie to the Syracuse Crunch (AHL)… Jan. 4: Added C Derek MacKenzie to the roster on emergency recall from Syracuse (AHL).

GARON NAMED NHL'S THIRD STAR FOR WEEK OF JAN. 4-10
G Mathieu Garon went 3-0-0 with a 1.46 goals-against average, .940 save percentage and one shutout in four games last week, including 3-0-0 with a 1.33 GAA, .947 SV% and 1 SO in three starts over a four day period at the end of the week. He made 24 saves in a 4-2 win at Edmonton on Jan. 7, earned the 100th win of his NHL career with 22 saves in a 3-2 win at Calgary on Jan. 8 and registered his second shutout of the season with 26 saves in a 2-0 win vs. Dallas on Jan. 10. He is 7-5-3 with a 2.55 GAA, .909 SV% and two shutouts in 21 games this season.

VERMETTE HEATS UP, SCORES 100TH GOAL
C Antoine Vermette has points in four-straight games (3-3-6) and five of his last six (3-4-7), including 1-2-3 in a 3-2 win at Calgary on Jan. 8. His goal against the Flames was the 100th of his NHL career (100-115-215 in 422 games). He has tallied 14-22-36 in 47 games this season and has collected 21-28-49 in 64 games since joining Columbus in a trade last March from the Ottawa Senators. He currently is tied for club lead in assists, ranks second in points and third in goals (tied).

HUSELIUS RETURNS TO THE SCORESHEET WITH A VENGEANCE
LW Kristian Huselius endured a stretch of 14 games from Dec. 5-31 in which he was held to 0-4-4 prior to posting multi-point games in three consecutive outings last week. He collected 1-1-2 vs. Colorado on Jan. 2, at Vancouver on Jan. 5 and at Edmonton on Jan. 7. After being shutout at Calgary on Jan. 8, he collected 0-1-1 vs. Dallas on Jan. 10 to give him 3-4-7 in his last five games and surpassing the 1-5-6 he tallied in his previous 17 outings. He has now collected 14-19-33 in 43 games, ranking third on the club in scoring.

JACKETS SNAP ROAD DROUGHT, IMPROVE TO 4-2-2 IN LAST EIGHT GAMES
The Blue Jackets picked up back-to-back road wins in Alberta last week, beating Edmonton 4-2 on Jan. 7 and Calgary 3-2 on Jan. 8. The victory over the Oilers snapped a 13-game road winless streak (0-9-4 since a 4-1 win at Dallas on Nov. 19). Columbus beat Dallas 2-0 on Jan. 10 to win its third-straight game and improve to 4-2-2 in its last eight outings. Through 47 games, Columbus has 45 points (18-20-9) which is just four points fewer than it had at this time last season (22-20-5, 49 pts.).

NEWS & NOTES
The Blue Jackets are averaging 15,093 fans per game with four sellouts (18,144) through 22 home games (332,063 total) this season, which is an increase of nearly 500 fans per game compared to 2008-09 (14,616 avg. and 321,551 total through 22 games)… LW Raffi Torres scored his 12th goal of the season at Calgary on Jan. 8 in the 400th game of his NHL career and has tallied 3-2-5 in his last five games… C Samuel Pahlsson collected his 100th career assist at Edmonton on Jan. 7 and played in his 600th career NHL game at Calgary on Jan. 8… D Jan Hejda is riding a career-high three-game points streak (2-1-3) and scored goals in back-to-back games at Edmonton on Jan. 7 and Calgary on Jan. 8… LW Kristian Huselius is six points shy of 400 for his NHL career (165-229-394 in 587 games)… LW Rick Nash is four points shy of 400 for his NHL career (213-183-386 in 488 games).

PEPSI, LOCAL RETAILERS OFFER FANS FREE JACKETS TICKETS
Pepsi and local retailers are teaming up to give fans the opportunity to get tickets for select Blue Jackets games at Nationwide Arena. Now through Friday, January 22, Columbus-area shoppers who purchase four 12-packs of Pepsi or Diet Pepsi in a single transaction can receive two tickets to select home games. Customers should look for the specially-marked packaging on Pepsi & Diet Pepsi at participating central Ohio stores. Fans may redeem the tickets by visiting www.bluejackets.com/pepsi and completing an informational form to receive an official confirmation, which must be presented at the Nationwide Arena ticket office along with the register receipt showing proof or purchase. Tickets may only be redeemed at the ticket office between 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday or 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, while supplies last. There is a limit of four tickets per transaction with only one transaction per game.
