TEAM NOTES

-The Blue Jackets play three road games this week – Tuesday at Colorado, Friday at Dallas and Saturday at Phoenix – two wins shy of the club record for road wins in a season (12). Earlier this season, the club earned its first-ever road wins vs. the Avalanche (3-0 on Dec. 5) and Stars (3-1 on Dec. 12). Columbus is 2-0-1 at Colorado, Dallas and Phoenix this season.

-This week's three-straight road games begin a stretch that has Columbus playing seven-of-nine away from home.

-Columbus scored two shorthanded goals (Jason Chimera, Rick Nash) in a game for the first time in franchise history in a 3-2 win at the NY Rangers on Feb. 24.

-Of the 22 players on Columbus roster at the beginning of the week, 12 were born in the 1980s, including seven born since 1984.

-Six of Columbus last nine games have been decided by one goal (2-2-2) with a 4-2 loss (including empty net goal) vs. St. Louis on Feb. 14, 3-0 win over San Jose on Feb. 16 and 4-0 loss vs. Edmonton on Feb. 22 the exceptions.

-The Jackets have gone 8-8-2 since a 0-3-1 stretch from Jan. 6-13.

-Columbus has played 17 of its 21 sets of back-to-back games this season and has a combined record of 15-16-3 in those games, including a 5-1-1 mark in the last seven. The club is 9-7-1 in the first game (three-straight wins) and 6-9-1 in the second (2-1-1 in the last four). The Jackets' 18th set of back-to-backs is this Friday and Saturday at Dallas and Phoenix.

 

INDIVIDUAL NOTES

Head Coach Ken Hitchcock coached in his 800th career regular season game Sunday vs. Nashville (427-268-105).

C Sergei Fedorov tallied 1-1-2 at NY Rangers on Feb. 24 to record the 1,100th point of his NHL career (459-641-1,100 in 1,109 games).

LW Fredrik Modin is two goals shy of 200 in his NHL career (198-194-392 in 722 games). He has 3-3-6 in his last nine games.

LW Jody Shelley scored his first goal of the season vs. Nashville on Feb. 25, while D Marc Methot made his NHL debut in the same game. Methot was Columbus seventh pick, 168th overall, in the 2003 Entry Draft.

With 8-20-28 in 61 games, D Ron Hainsey is five points shy of passing Bryan Berard (12-20-32 in 44 games, 2005-06) for the second-most points in a season by a Blue Jackets defenseman. Jaroslav Spacek holds the record with 9-36-45 in 81 games during the 2002-03 season.
