Blue Jackets season ticket and partial plan holders have access to a variety of exclusive perks, privileges and special opportunities throughout the season. One of those unique benefits for all full, half, and quarter season plan holders is the opportunity for attend a morning skate question and answer session.
Several times each year, Blue Jackets plan holders are offered the opportunity to come to Nationwide Arena on the morning of a home game to watch the team practice on the main ice and then participate in a Q&A with the Blue Jackets’ broadcast team and other special guests. Plan holders get an insiders look at the morning skate, followed by the chance to then hear some commentary and ask questions about that night's match-up. Morning skate special guests have included Blue Jackets personalities such as Head Coach Todd Richards, General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen, President of Hockey Operations John Davidson, as well broadcasters Jeff Rimer and Jody Shelley.
Here's what a few season ticket holders said about their season ticket holder morning skate experiences:
"The kids made signs and the players came over to see them. It is also cool for our kids who play hockey to see the Blue Jackets skate--to see how enthusiastic they are and how much fun they have, it makes a big difference in how our kids play hockey. I also enjoy seeing the players smiling at practice. The practice shows that they have fun and also work hard. It's one of my favorite benefits of being a season ticket holder, getting an inside look at the team like this."
- Morten Haugland, 3-year Half Season Ticket Holder
"We had never been to a pregame skate before. It was exciting to see the players, including Ryan Johansen
, who we saw skate with the Portland Winterhawks when we lived in Oregon. It was very exciting to see how they prepare before a game."
- David Sawyer, 6-year Half Season Ticket Holder
"I brought my grandson, Daniel, today and he's a huge Blue Jackets fan and he plays hockey. He's a big fan of Nick Foligno
and Jack Johnson
, too, and it was cool to see him watch the players skate. I like listening to what the personnel have to say and it was really interesting to see the way the players skate in practice. It's a great inside and intimate look at the team we love."
- Chris Kroskie, Day 1 Full Season Ticket Holder
