Two teams that have combined for nine straight losses meet at Nationwide tonight.
It might not sound like an exciting match up on the surface, but I will remind you in their first meeting back on the 19th of January the teams did provide fans at the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla. and those watching on FOX Sports Ohio an entertaining 60-plus minutes!
Florida stormed to 2-0 first period lead before the 10 minute mark, the CBJ got one back late in the first and after a scoreless second the Blue Jackets poured it on in the third. Actually, Columbus dominated both the second and third periods, but Tomas Vokoun turned aside 27 of 28 shots in the second and third periods. The only goal to get by Vokoun came with the Blue Jackets net empty for an extra skater in the final minute of regulation.
Then in the final minute of overtime RJ Umberger scored on a power-play to give the Jackets the victory.
Incidentally, Vokoun hurt his back in the third period of the Panthers shootout loss in Pittsburgh on Sunday and will not play tonight. Scott Clemmensen will get the start for Florida and Steve Mason will be in the Blue Jackets net, after Mathieu Garon had started the previous two games.
As far as the skaters go it looks like the same lineup that the CBJ went with Sunday against Vancouver, which means Anton Stralman, although he is close, will not play.
Game time is 7 p.m. on FOX Sports Ohio with Blue Jackets live getting underway at 6:30 p.m.
