Here in Buffalo the Blue Jackets begin the first of back-to-back games against the Eastern Conference tonight as they meet the Sabres before returning home to play the high-flying Pittsburgh Penguins at Nationwide tomorrow.
The Penguins are the NHL's hottest team at 9-0-1 in their last 10, but lets not get ahead of ourselves, we still have to assess tonight's match-up against the Sabres.
It will give Jackets coach Scott Arniel his first game coaching against Lindy Ruff, who gave Arniel his first shot as an assistant coach on his staff here in Buffalo. Arniel was asked after this morning's pre-game skate what he has taken from his time spent behind the Buffalo bench with Ruff. His response, as you would expect, was nothing but admiration for the Sabres mentor.
"His approach to coaching, his enthusiasm, his love for the job and the fact that he wouldn't leave a stone unturned to get an edge," Arniel said.
Ruff on the other hand commented on Arniel getting the Jackets to play a North-South game, up tempo and their ability to take advantage of their speed.
No lineup changes for the CBJ this evening other than it appears as if Mathieu Garon will get tonight's start in goal against Buffalo's Ryan Miller.
Game time on FOX Sports Ohio in HD is 7:30 p.m. and coverage will start with Blue Jackets Live at 7 p.m.
