EDITOR'S NOTE: You've arrived at the CBJ Power Rankings, our weekly breakdown of the top-five players, statistics, trends and many other Blue Jackets-related categories. If you're looking for the traditional power rankings, you've come to the wrong place. We'll go in-depth and outside the box, and hopefully give you something to think about.
The Blue Jackets are having a terrific month of March and that success goes beyond their 10-4-0 record. They've won eight consecutive road games after their recent weekend sweep of the Blackhawks and Blues. No team goes on that kind of extended success without at least one significant contributor putting up some big numbers. At the same time, there are other players around the league who are stepping up in a big way as their teams make the final push for the post-season. In one one of the season's most important months, no one has been filling the back of the net at a higher rate than these players.
(NOTE: All statistics and rankings are prior to league action on Sunday.)
Radim Vrbata - Vancouver Canucks
The Vancouver Canucks are right in the thick of the the playoff picture in the Western Conference and fighting for home ice advantage in the first round. They're finding points with a 6-3-1 record in their last 10 games, and one of the guys pushing them along is All-Star Radim Vrbata. The 13-year veteran has a chance to set career-highs in every offensive category in his first year in Vancouver with 30 goals and 58 points, but he's saved his best for March.
Vrbata has eight goals this month in 14 games, as well as 16 points for the second highest total in the league. Vrbata has five goals in his last seven games, and he can boost his totals for the month in the Canucks' next two games against the Blues and Predators.
