Post-Game Quotes

Blue Jackets Head Coach Scott Arniel

Commenting on tonight’s game…

"That whole game had a playoff atmosphere to it – the first two periods were kind of a slugfest. We hung with it and kept doing what we were doing and scored a couple of power play goals and got a bounce (on the second goal). We brought that road game that we were playing… and we did a lot of those things (tonight) that we had been doing on the road."

Commenting on being in the playoff hunt…
"You have to love this time of year. The intensity around the league, you're watching everybody and everybody is on pins and needles, jockeying for (playoff) spots. It's what the players live to play for. This is as close to playoff hockey as you are going to see. These are exciting times and guys can feel it and are feeding off the energy that comes from these games. It certainly brings out the best in people."

Blue Jackets Goaltender Steve Mason

Commenting on tonight's game…

"I knew we had to be patient going against a team like this that is in the top two in the league defensively. We were going to be patient for our goals to come. For myself, it was just to stay focused and make the timely saves. It was a tight game so your focus was always there. When it is a tight game like that it is pretty easy to stay focused."

Blue Jackets Left Wing Rick Nash

Commenting on his first goal…

"It was kind of a lucky play. I think if you look at the replay their team actually put it in, I just brought it to the net."

Commenting on tonight's game…
"It was a tough game tonight. The first two periods there wasn't too much room out there we had to create all of our chances. The guys stuck with it and stuck to the game plan for 60 minutes and it ended up working."

Nashville Head Coach Barry Trotz

Commenting on tonight's game…

"We had way too many turnovers and a lot of it was just soft on the puck. You are not going to generate any offense if you keep turning the puck over in the neutral zone. They kept fore-checking and I don't think we managed after the first goal. You have to be comfortable in those close games and they kept the momentum after they got the first goal."
