Post Game Quotes - Dec. 12 vs. Anaheim

by Blue Jackets Staff / Columbus Blue Jackets

Anaheim Ducks at Columbus Blue Jackets

Blue Jackets Head Coach Ken Hitchcock
Commenting on tonight's game...

"We had a poor first period and we were alright in the second and the third."

Commenting on the five-on-three power play in the third period…
"You're down a goal, five-on-three (advantage), that's the turning point of the hockey game. We've scored on them all year and I don't even know that we got a quality look. We stumbled around. We had shots blocked and cross-ice passes picked off."

Commenting on the return of left wing Fredrik Modin…
"It's going to be a big help. If he stays healthy, he's going to be a good player. He’s going to be a good addition."

Commenting on right wing Derek Dorsett
"Broken hand. We've got lots of players, so we'll be able to recover. It's too bad because he was really playing well. Yeah, (he hurt it) during the fight."

Columbus Blue Jackets Player Quotes

Blue Jackets Defenseman Mike Commodore

Commenting on tonight's game…

"Our power play has been pretty good throughout the year, a huge improvement from last year. There's going to be some nights where you don't score whether you're not moving the puck well or they're just killing penalties well. Although the 5-on-3 would've been nice to score on, that would've been huge. I don’t think the story of the game was our lack of scoring on the power play. I just don't think we played very well."

Commenting on the upcoming game against Nashville…
"Thank God we're not playing there again. That building (Sommet Center) is cursed for the Blue Jackets. We've played well there and just can't seem to win. But now, it's our turn. We're at home, so we need to flex our muscles a little bit and take advantage of our surroundings."

Blue Jackets Left Wing Fredrik Modin

Commenting on playing his first game of the season…

"I skated quite a bit the past week and have been able to practice with the boys here the past week. You try to do what you can. If it's playing around a little bit with the stick and puck whenever you can, you try to take advantage of those situations."

Anaheim Ducks Quotes

Anaheim Ducks Head Coach Randy Carlyle

Commenting on tonight's game…

"We wanted to take on the attitude that we wanted to build off last nights third period. We couldn't let that kind of thing happen to our hockey club tonight at any part of the game. Playing back-to-back games is part of life in the NHL. We are not really proud of our road record yet. Was it a perfect road game, no. But we did what we had to do to win the game. Our power play got us a big goal and our penalty killing kept us in the hockey game."

Commenting on their first road win in two months…
"Well, we haven't played that many road games if you look at it comparatively. I think we have played just 12. The problem is that five of them we lost in either overtime or a shootout so there are five more points that we missed. You get upset that you only have two wins we had five points that we left out there."

Anaheim Ducks Goaltender Jonas Hiller

Commenting on tonight's game…

"I felt pretty good out there tonight. It was a confidence builder for the team after last night. Hopefully we can keep it going. They had a couple of chances in the second. We just kept going. Killing the 5-on-3 was huge and we got the big power play goal at the end."
