Too letters mean a lot to this CBJ hockey team at this time of prose. As a team, the letters JW …Just Win….signify exactly what the team needs to accomplish as they set sail for the Canadian West. There they will meet 3 teams of different stature in the league with the struggling Canucks in Vancouver, where they have lost 6 in a row at home, the Oilers that are looking for a consistency and the Calgary Flames who lead the Northwest Division by 9 points.
This is the first trip to the Canadian Rockies this year, with all contests being battled within NWA during the months prior. History has it we have a dominate hand on the Canucks with consecutive 3-2 and 4-2 victories. In the Edmonton match ups, we have won 5-4 and lost a 7-2 tilt. (outshot them 39-19)Against the Flames, the Jackets played a solid 60 minutes of hockey, winning 3-1.The majority of these contests came early in the season and the home teams will be looking at revenge to the utmost degree. The All Star break is usually the time when teams begin to distance themself from the pack as history has been recorded in the past…..right?
So the motto of this trip is JUST WIN!!!
JW also reflects the new addition to the CBJ home!!Jason Williams, a one time Jacket Killer with 9 goals-10 assists / 28 career games against his new teammates.Let one reflect the needs of the CBJ estate today.Scott Howson has been shopping in this economic climate of change and was thinking possibly of buying a Mercedes for the garage if the price was right. He was not going to overpay. He decided on a more economical machine that fit the needs of the household and found an Audi that has:
low miles…28 years old
great overall performance…73 career goals/ 26PPG
dependable in all weather…stints in Detroit, Chicago and Atlanta with a Stanley Cup to his credit
and it fits inside the garage easily behind the big truck and the sports car….not a physical player and not a finesse player, but one that will have a defined role in every day play
Jason Williams is a player that is a right handed shot that can play in the middle or wing, and especially can unload a howitzer that has the inert ability to have a “seeing eye” on the Power play. The nice thing that Scott Howson can pride himself is that he only had to trade in the Harley and a weed eater to get what was needed to fit into the garage.
Nice things are going on at home as things sit comfortable with warmth in the garage….but to get to the point of this precise, JUST WIN must be in the cards for the CBJ….this road trip will turn up the temperature in the main frame for sure and we will be measuring the output in goals for and against.
Stay tuned and we will keep you abreast as we heat up before the break!!!
