The CBJ outshot Nashville 36-24, but timely goals by Hlavac and Arnott, classified as a couple of softies found there way into the net. It was a spirited affair at the Sommet Center with several outbursts involving Tootoo and Hejda and Tootoo and Chimera. Can someone say for Friday's return game with Nashville… Jared Boll. It would not be a stretch to have Darcy Hordichuk back in the lineup for the return engagement.
Fredrik Norrena was yanked after allowing Radek Bonk to score his second goal in 42 games. It was his 13th of the year, on the PP as he stuffed a forehand rebound around the left pad of Freddie… that broke the back of the CBJ's, as they were continually throwing rubber at Ellis who garnered his fifth career shutout.
Impressive tonight for the CBJ was the play of Clay Wilson, a puck moving defenseman who played 14:49 of ice, had three shots on goal and was a factor all night in the transition game. Look for Clay to see more ice… also Clay?... be sure to get that outside edge on the left skate taken care of tomorrow.
Also involved all night was Aaron Rome, who dished off a couple of more hits, a few shots and a gutsy affair with Shea Weber, after Weber cross checked Picard behind the goal line. Rome has shown visions of old school… square shoulders, a heavy shot and the willingness to get involved. Nice job!
Another highlight was the intensity of Picard, Lindstrom and Brule. They had limited ice but when called upon they got involved and took things to the blue of the crease in desperation. One can only hope they are given more time, as they certainly earned the right for a regular shift.
How about Chimera?
This kid is going up and beyond as he is getting involved in the play more so than others. He was willing to get into fisticuffs with Jordan Tootoo, where he was on the receiving end of a take down. Since he has signed his new deal with the team and his wife has given birth to the baby boy, he is a possessed man that takes one for the team each and every night. He has only had five games this year where he has not recorded a shot on goal.
The team will need more from #13, #9, and #19 to finish off the last few games of the year. They have proven it in the past and it is time to assist in saving a little face in the eyes of adversity. Remember, in every game and in life, it is how you finish… not how you start that people remember.
Today… Chicago… they sit, they wait… and we owe them one. We will see who shows up tonight in another battle with the Hawks. The series is tied at 3-3!!... Look out and come see us!
