The NHL's leading Calder Trophy candidate Steve Mason pronounced himself ready to return to the nets tonight as the Blue Jackets host the defending Stanley Cup Champion Red Wings at Nationwide Arena tonight!
Not only does Mason say he can go tonight after recovering from mono, but the 20-year-old netminder says he will be ready to face the Hurricanes in Raleigh tomorrow night.
It's the first of a pair of sets of back-to-back games the Jackets will play over a KEY six-game stretch in the next nine nights. As Coach Hitchcock said following practice yesterday - "This is a tough stretch and if we survive this were in it" obviously in reference to the playoffs.
Dorsett and Murray are the scratches tonight... Derek recovering from the flu and Murray out with an upper body injury but both might be back in the lineup tomorrow night against the Canes.
This should be a good one tonight... the Red Wings have won six in a row tying their longest winning streak of the season and it comes after they'd dropped five straight... one in OT.
Tonight's game which is close to a sellout as I write this can be seen in HD on Fox Sports Ohio - if your not fortunate enough to have tickets for the game... and a reminder speaking of tickets... plenty left for Monday's huge game against Dallas and we need a big "encouraging crowd" for that one!
