Hello from"Beautiful" Vancouver one of the prettiest cities of the World!! But, things are ugly as far as Canucks fans are concerned. Their team is 0-2-0 and expectations are high what with the commitment by the organization to keep this team together by signing the Sedin twins and Roberto Luongo to long term deals this past summer. After, in their own minds, blowing a series lead in the Conference Semi Finals to Chicago last spring and then their strong showing in the preseason, the team expects to challenge for the Stanley Cup!
Taking all into consideration, and a sold out GM Place for their home opener, expect the Canucks to come out of the gate with a bang. The Blue Jackets MUST weather the strom in the games first ten minutes. Steve Mason has to pick up where he left off Saturday in his solid performance in leading the Jackets to their 2-1 opening night win over the Wild.
I don't expect any lineup changes tonight. Defenseman Anton Stralman has joined the team here in Vancouver. He was waiting in the lobby as the team arrived here yesterday afternoon and practiced with the club later in the afternoon. Coach Hitchcock told me this morning that he wants the newly acquired defenseman to get a few practices in before debuting with the team. I asked Hitch for his first impressions of the right handed shooting Stralman and his reply in one phrase... "lots of skill!"
Tonight's telecast on FOX Sports Ohio begins with "Blue Jackets Live" at 9:30. Be sure to tune in for the Studio Debut of Ray Crawford. I believe a great addition to our telecasts.
