The Blue Jackets host one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference tonight with the Philadelphia Flyers at Nationwide Arena. The Flyers no doubt will be a bit put off... what with their 5-1 loss at Chicago and travel plans that have gone awry... first from Philly yesterday after the Christmas break ended and their late arrival here in Columbus due to the fact they were unable to get out of the Windy City last night do to the poor weather after their game.
Also upsetting to the Flyers are the loss of two players in last night's game... no strangers to the Blue Jackets... both ex-Predators... Scott Hartnell and Kimmo Timonen.
As for the Jackets, Kristian Husileus will be a game time decision as to his availability do to the flu. If he is unable to go, then look for Craig MacDonald just summoned from Syracuse to take his spot.
Steve Mason starts in goal and Marc Methot is the healthy scratch on the blueline.
The trading moratorium, ends at midnight tonight and General Manger Scott Howson told season ticket holders in a town hall meeting that the Jackets are actively talking to several teams in an effort to find a top center preferably a younger player who will be part of the team moving forward as opposed to an aging veteran. He added that he will NOT mortgage the future for a quick fix meaning the likes of Brassard, Mason, Filatov, etc are untouchables! Howson did say he would be willing to part with the team's number one pick next June for the right player!
