--- The Columbus chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers Association has nominated Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Fedor Tyutin for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, the club announced today. The award is given annually to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.

Tyutin, 32, has recorded a goal and two assists for three points with 28 penalty minutes in 61 games this season. He became the fourth player to skate in 500 games with the franchise on October 22 at Minnesota and played in his 800th career NHL game on March 19 vs. New Jersey.

The Izhevsk, Russia native has recorded 54-197-251 and 510 penalty minutes in 803 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets and New York Rangers during his 12-year professional career. He is second on the Jackets’ career list in games played, third in assists and fifth in points with 39-146-185 and 351 penalty minutes in 553 games. Originally selected by the Rangers with their second pick, 40th overall, in the 2001 NHL Draft, he was acquired from New York via trade on July 2, 2008. Tyutin has represented Russia at numerous international tournaments, including the 2006, 2010 and 2014 Olympic Games.

Last year’s winner was Devan Dubnyk of the Minnesota Wild. Previous Blue Jackets nominees for the award include: Kevin Dineen (2000-01 and 2001-02, finalist both years), Luke Richardson (2002-03), Manny Malhotra (2003-04), Duvie Westcott (2005-06), Fredrik Norrena (2006-07), Pascal Leclaire (2007-08), Raffi Torres (2008-09), Jared Boll (2009-10), Derek MacKenzie (2010-11), Curtis Sanford (2011-12), Vinny Prospal (2012-13) and Nick Foligno (2013-14 and 2015-16).
