Columbus Blue Jackets Trim Nine Players from Roster

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets trimmed nine players from the current roster September 28, General Manager Scott Howson announced. The current roster consists of 27 players.

The Blue Jackets assigned defenseman John Moore to the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League. The club also assigned defensemen Grant Clitsome, Nick Holden and David Liffiton and forwards Maksim Mayorov, Stefan Legein and Tom Sestito to the Syracuse Crunch, the club's American Hockey League affiliate. Forward Derek MacKenzie and defenseman Jonathan Sigalet were placed on waivers for the purpose of assignment to Syracuse.

The Jackets open the 2009-10 regular season on Saturday, October 3, against the Wild. Game time from Nationwide Arena is 7 p.m. Live coverage on FOX Sports Ohio HD will begin with the Blue Jackets Live pre-game show starting at 6:30 p.m. The game will also broadcast live on the Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship station WWCD-FM, CD101, as well as online at BlueJackets.com.
