Columbus Blue Jackets Recall Forward Alexandre Picard from American Hockey League's Syracuse Crunch; Place Defenseman Marc Methot on Injured Reserve

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled forward Alexandre Picard from the Syracuse Crunch, Columbus’ American Hockey League affiliate, and placed defenseman Marc Methot on Injured Reserve, General Manager Scott Howson announced today. Methot is expected to miss at least one week.

Picard, 24, has registered nine goals and 10 assists for 19 points and 72 penalty minutes in 27 games with Syracuse this season. He leads the club in goals and points (tied), while ranking third in penalty minutes. He has notched 64-66-130 and 420 penalty minutes in 219 career AHL games with the Crunch. Columbus’ first pick, eighth overall, in the 2004 Entry Draft, he was scoreless in his only appearance with the Blue Jackets this season against Toronto on December 3. In 59 career games with the Blue Jackets, he has 0-2-2 and 48 penalty minutes.

Methot, 24, has recorded 1-3-4 and 35 penalty minutes in 31 games with the Blue Jackets this season. Columbus' eighth pick, 200th overall, in the 2003 Entry Draft, he has collected 5-20-25, 110 penalty minutes and a cumulative plus/minus rating of +2 in 126 career NHL games.

The Blue Jackets return to action Monday when they host the Detroit Red Wings. Game time from Nationwide Arena is 7 p.m. ET. The game will be televised live nationally on VERSUS HD.
