COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned defenseman Dalton Prout to the Springfield Falcons, the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, Blue Jackets Executive Vice President and General Manager Scott Howson announced February 12. Prout was added to the roster on emergency recall on Friday, but did not play.
Prout, 21, was the Blue Jackets’ seventh pick, 154th overall, in the 2007 Entry Draft. Playing his first professional season, he has recorded three goals and four assists for seven points with 41 penalty minutes in 41 games with Springfield this season. He is tied for the team lead among defensemen in goals.
Prior to his professional career, the LaSalle, Ontario native played five seasons in the Ontario Hockey League. He collected 17-49-66 and 436 penalty minutes with a cumulative plus/minus rating of +16 in 286 career games with Sarnia, Barrie and Saginaw. He added 3-9-12 and 73 penalty minutes in 46 career playoff games.
The Blue Jackets return to action tonight when they host the Anaheim Ducks. Game time from Nationwide Arena is set for 6 p.m. ET.
