Columbus Blue Jackets Activate Left Wing Rick Nash Off Injured Reserve; Assign Forward Craig MacDonald to AHL's Syracuse Crunch

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated left wing Rick Nash off injured reserve and have assigned forward Craig MacDonald to the Syracuse Crunch, Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Scott Howson announced January 18.

Nash, who was named to the Western Conference All-Star Team, has missed the past four games with a lower body injury. The four-time All-Star leads the club with 17 goals, 22 assists and 39 points in 40 games this season. He has added a team-high four game-winning goals, has a +9 plus/minus rating and is averaging 20:50 of ice time per game, tops among club forwards. The franchise's all-time leading scorer has registered 171-144-315 and 418 penalty minutes in 403 career games.

MacDonald, 31, registered one goal and one assist for two points with a +1 plus/minus rating in eight games with the Blue Jackets this season. He has tallied 11-24-35 and 91 penalty minutes in 237 career NHL games with Carolina, Florida, Boston, Calgary, Chicago, Tampa Bay and Columbus. He also has collected 8-11-19 with 33 penalty minutes in 31 games with the Crunch this season. Hartford's third pick, 88th overall, in the 1996 Entry Draft, he has recorded 84-146-230 and 419 penalty minutes in 344 career AHL games with New Haven, Lowell, Omaha, Norfolk and Syracuse.

The Blue Jackets return to action tonight when they visit the Vancouver Canucks. Game time at General Motors Place is 8 p.m. ET. Live coverage on FOX Sports Ohio HD will begin with the Blue Jackets Live pre-game show starting at 7:30 p.m. The game also will be broadcast live on the Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship stations WBNS-AM, Sports Radio 1460 The Fan beginning at 7:30 p.m.
