COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated center Andrew Murray off injured reserve and assigned forward Alexandre Picard to the Syracuse Crunch, Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate, General Manager Scott Howson announced December 5.
Murray, 27, has registered one assist in six games this season. Last season, he collected 8-3-11 and 10 penalty minutes in 67 games with the Blue Jackets. He ranked third on the club with three game-winning goals, while setting career highs in goals, points and games played. Columbus' 11th pick, 242nd overall, in the 2001 Entry Draft, he has tallied 14-8-22 and 22 penalty minutes in 112 career NHL games.
Picard, 24, was scoreless with three shots on goal in his only appearance of the season this past Thursday against Toronto. He has tallied 8-7-15 with 26 penalty minutes and a +2 plus/minus rating in 19 games with Syracuse this season. Columbus’ first pick, eighth overall, in the 2004 Entry Draft, he has registered 0-2-2 and 48 penalty minutes in 58 career NHL games.
The Blue Jackets return action tonight when they host the Colorado Avalanche. Game time from Nationwide Arena is set for 7 p.m. ET.
