Happy New Year, Jackets fans!

The Blue Jackets certainly left 2014 with a bang, going 10-1-1 in December and putting a bow on it all by locking up leading scorer Nick Foligno to a long-term contract extension. So what did Jackets fans have to say this week to ring in the new year? Let’s take a look!

It’s been a heck of a year for hockey in Columbus. A return to the playoffs, an exciting corps of young players, and the preparations for the pending Honda NHL All-Star Game are just a few of the exciting things that happened at Nationwide Arena in 2014. The Hockey Writers count down their Top 5 Blue Jackets Moments this past year!

As long as we’re counting down the top moments, fans might as well give their two cents on 2014’s best player: The Cannon wants to know your pick for 2014 Player of the Year.

One of the players on that ballot looks to be staying in Columbus for a long time. Foligno signed a six-year contract extension this week, and The Cannon gives their take on what that deal means to the Blue Jackets.

With one more tip of the cap to 2014 nostalgia, we turn to BS Hockey and their Five Days in April series, in which they look back on the 2014 playoff run.

Now looking ahead, the Blue Jackets’ excellent December has them back in the hunt for a playoff spot. Getting healthier only helps, and Union and Blue knows that Mark Letestu’s pending return to the lineup will be a big boost.

The Jackets need to carry their strong play into January, and The Hockey Writers highlight the key contests to kick off 2015.
