The Colorado Avalanche claimed defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk on waivers from the Blue Jackets on Tuesday.

During the 2015-16 campaign, Bodnarchuk appeared in 16 games for the Blue Jackets. The 27-year-old recorded his first career NHL point during the Blue Jackets' game against the Florida Panthers at Nationwide Arena on Dec. 4.

The Alberta native tallied two points, both assists, and recorded eight penalty minutes this season.

Bodnarchuk was selected by Boston in the fifth round (128th overall) of the 2006 NHL Draft, and played five games with the Bruins during the 2009-10 season. He was signed by the Blue Jackets to a one-year, two-way contract this summer.
