HITCH TO COACH IN 1,000TH NHL GAME ON WEDNESDAY VS. DETROIT
Columbus Head Coach Ken Hitchcock will reach the 1,000 game milestone as a National Hockey League head coach on Wednesday when the Blue Jackets host the Detroit Red Wings at Nationwide Arena. He will become the 16th coach in league history to reach the milestone, including the second this season (Dallas' Marc Crawford). Hitchcock is in his fourth season with Columbus and 14th in the NHL and has posted a 520-350-129 record in 999 career games with the Blue Jackets, Stars and Flyers. On Feb. 19, 2009, he became the 13th coach in NHL history to record 500 wins with a 4-3 shootout win over the Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre. Scotty Bowman is the all-time leader in wins (1,244) and games (2,141).
NASH ONLY PLAYER IN NHL WITH MULTIPLE GW, PP, SH GOALS THIS SEASON
RW Rick Nash is off to the best start of his NHL career as he's tallied 11-11-22 in 16 games this season… He currently ranks fourth-T in the NHL in points (five behind L.A.'s Anze Kopitar), fifth-T in goals (three behind Washington's Alex Ovechkin) and is tied for first with two shorthanded goals. Nash is also the only player in the NHL who has scored multiple power play (two), shorthanded (two) and game-winning (two) goals this season. He has picked up a point in 12-of-16 games with goals in nine contests and has already collected seven multi-point games.
BLUE JACKETS STREAKING
After getting off to a 5-1-0 start and then dropping four-of-five games from Oct. 20-28, Columbus is riding a five-game regulation unbeaten streak (3-0-2) and has wins in its last two games… During the 1-4-0 stretch, the Jackets scored 16 goals (3.20 per game) and allowed 26 (5.20) while surrendering 10 goals on 24 opponent power play attempts (58.3 pct. penalty killing)… In the five game since, the Jackets have scored 17 goals (3.40), allowed 16 (3.20) and given up just four power play goals on 25 attempts (84.0 pct. penalty killing).
JACKETS CONTINUE TO PREY ON EASTERN CONFERENCE
The Blue Jackets are 3-0-1 vs. the Eastern Conference this season after picking up wins at Atlanta and vs. Carolina last week… Columbus had the best record among Western Conference clubs vs. the East last season at 13-3-2… Since suffering a 2-0 loss at Boston on Dec. 15, 2007, Columbus has posted a 21-4-4 record vs. Eastern Conference opponents… The club has also played 13 consecutive games without suffering a regulation loss to a team from the Southeast Division, going 11-0-2 since a 5-2 loss vs. Florida on Nov. 21, 2007… Columbus plays its next five games within the conference before visiting the NY Rangers, Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators as part of a five-game road trip between Nov. 19-26.

MILITARY APPRECIATION NIGHT ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 11
The Blue Jackets host the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday, November 11, and celebrate Veterans Day with a special Military Appreciation Night. Before the game, the 338th U.S. Army Band will perform on the concourse while fans are encouraged to visit displays featuring battle flags, artifacts and uniforms provided by the Ohio Historical Society and the Ohio National Guard. Fans may also visit informational kiosks to learn more about the Ohio Historical Society, Department of Veteran Affairs, Vietnam Veterans of America, U.S. Army Freedom Team Salute, Wounded Warrior Project and Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. The Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines will be represented during the pre-game ritual of carrying the flag followed by the multi-service Honor Guard’s participation in the presentation of the national anthem. The evening will also feature in-game recognition of all current and former military personnel in attendance. Fans may also express their appreciation by signing cards that will be sent to overseas troops by The Thank You Foundation.
