Jan. 8, 2006 –
Bryan Berard scored three goals against Coyotes goaltender Curtis Joseph to lead the Blue Jackets to a 5-3 win at Phoenix. The hat trick was the second in club history – and most recent – by a Blue Jackets defenseman. Deron Quint was the first CBJ blueliner to accomplish the fete at Florida on Mar. 9, 2001.

Dec. 30 – Activated C Derek MacKenzie off Injured Reserve… Dec. 29 – Assigned LW Tom Sestito to the Springfield Falcons (AHL)… INJURY REPORT: None… Man Games Lost to Injury: 100.

Dec. 27 – at COLUMBUS 4, MINNESOTA 3 (SO):
Steve Mason made 37 saves in regulation and stopped 2-of-3 shootout attempts, while Rick Nash (0-2-2), Kristian Huselius and Kyle Wilson each converted in the shootout to lead the Jackets, who won despite being outshot 40 to 22 in the game… Dec. 30 – COLUMBUS 3, at TORONTO 2: Kristian Huselius scored a pair of goals and R.J. Umberger tipped a Rick Nash shot past Jonas Gustavsson on an early third period power play as the Jackets came back from 1-0 and 2-1 deficits to earn their first-ever regulation win over the Maple Leafs… Dec. 31– at COLUMBUS 4, OTTAWA 3 (OT): The Blue Jackets jumped out to a 3-0 lead on goals by R.J. Umberger, Samuel Pahlsson and Rick Nash before needing Jakub Voracek’s tally at 2:06 of overtime to beat the Senators. Ottawa forced overtime when Daniel Alfredsson scored at 18:49 of the third period. Steve Mason made 35 saves in net for Columbus… Jan. 2 – at NASHVILLE 4, COLUMBUS 1: R.J. Umberger scored just 37 seconds into the game and Columbus led 1-0 after one period, but the Predators used a three-goal second period to snap the Jackets’ three-game winning streak. Shea Weber tallied 1-2-3 to lead Nashville, which held a 26 to 20 edge in shots on goal.

With a 4-3 OT win over Ottawa in their 38th game (20-15-3), the Blue Jackets hit the 20-win mark faster than any previous season in club history. The previous best start came in 2008-09 when the Columbus picked up win No. 20 in its 42nd game (20-18-4). The Jackets enter the week 20-16-3 through 39 games. The quickest the team has ever posted 21 wins is 43 games (21-18-4) in 2008-09.

Columbus has gone 6-6-2 in its last 14 games… In its nine previous seasons, Columbus has won more games during the month of January (57) than in any other month (March, 55)… The Jackets play eight of 11 games this month on the road… With a 9-7-2 road record, the club has already matched its total for road wins in two previous seasons (2000-01 and 2002-03) and surpassed two others (eight in 2001-02 and 2003-04). .. The franchise record for road wins in a season is 16 in 2008-09 (16-18-7)… The Blue Jackets are 7-2-0 vs. Eastern Conference clubs this season and 34-15-6 since the 2007-08 season after wins over Toronto and Ottawa last week.

LW R.J. Umberger has scored a goal in three-straight games and has collected 5-2-7 in his last nine outings to raise his season totals to 13-14-27 in 39 games. He ranks second on the club in goals and points and is the only Blue Jacket to score multiple power play (three), shorthanded (two) and game-winning goals (two) this season. He has also played in 205-consecutive games dating back to Apr.2, 2008 (with Philadelphia), including all 202 since joining the Blue Jackets. His streak is the second-longest in club history (243, Jason Chimera from Oct. 9, 2005 to Apr. 5, 2008.

C Antoine Vermette is three games shy of 500 in his NHL career (123-144-267 in 497 games) and could reach the plateau when the Jackets visit Los Angeles on Saturday… LW/RW Rick Nash has tallied 1-4-5 in four games since enduring a season-high four-game point drought from Dec. 18-26… LW Kristian Huselius has collected 5-2-7 in his last nine games… D Fedor Tyutin has collected 2-4-6 in his last 13 games after being held to 0-3-3 in his first 24 outings this season… RW Jakub Voracek, who is expected to play in his 200th NHL game at Anaheim on Friday, has tallied 2-2-4 in his last five games and is tied for the club lead in assists with 15 (Derick Brassard)… G Steve Mason went 3-0-0 with a 2.57 GAA and .922 SV% from Dec. 27-31 after not starting the previous four games. He is 9-3-0 this season when facing 30 or more shots compared to 3-7-1 when he sees fewer than 30 shots on goal.

The Blue Jackets' fourth Alumni Night of their 10th Season, presented by AAA Ohio, is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 14 when the team hosts the Detroit Red Wings and welcomes back Tyler Wright. The club’s current development coach, he was selected by Columbus in the 2000 Expansion Draft. He tallied 57-51-108 and added 436 penalty minutes in 309 games as a Blue Jacket from 2000-06 and was the first player in club history to record two hat tricks in the same season (2002-03). Wright will drop the ceremonial first puck prior to the game and sign autographs for fans after the game's conclusion on the Nationwide Arena concourse. In addition, all fans in attendance will receive a 10th season Blue Jackets scarf courtesy of AAA Ohio.
