MASON NAMED NHL ROOKIE OF THE MONTH: G Steve Mason was named the NHL Rookie of the Month for November last week as he posted a 5-2-1 record with a 2.09 goals-against average, .919 save percentage and two shutouts. He is 6-4-1 with a 2.17 goals-against average, .915 save percentage and two shutouts in 11 games this season. He is the second Blue Jacket in as many months to win the league's monthly award as C Derick Brassard earned Rookie of the Month honors in October. The last time one team had back-to-back rookies of the month was 2001-02 when Atlanta’s Dany Heatley and Ilya Kovalchuk were honored…
TYUTIN CONTINUES TO LEAD CBJ BLUELINE: After taking 272 games to record his first multi-goal game (2-0-2 at Detroit on Nov. 28), D Fedor Tyutin took just five to more to record his second multi-point game of the season, as he collected 0-2-2 at Anaheim on Dec. 7. He leads all club defensemen in points with 3-10-13 and tops the club in ice time, averaging 23:54 per game…
NASH REGISTERS 300TH POINT: LW Rick Nash scored his team-leading 13th goal at San Jose on Dec. 4, which was also the 300th point of his NHL career. He leads the club in scoring with 13-11-24 in 27 games and has registered 167-133-300 in 390 games. He is the second player in CBJ history to record 300 points with the club, joining David Vyborny, who tallied 113-204-317 in 543 games from 2000-08…
MISCELLANEOUS: LW Jason Chimera collected an assist in the 400th game of his NHL career at Anaheim on Dec. 7… Rookie C Derick Brassard snapped a season-high five-game pointless streak with 0-1-1 at San Jose on Dec. 4 and added 1-1-2 at Anaheim on Dec. 7… D Jan Hejda is +8 in his last 18 games after beginning the season -2 in his first nine contests… LW Fredrik Modin has three goals in his last four games after scoring two in his first 17 outings.
MISCELLANEOUS: The Blue Jackets have won their last two games at Nationwide Arena after dropping three in a row on home ice… Conversely, the club has dropped four-straight on the road after a franchise record-tying five-game regulation unbeaten streak (3-0-2)... Columbus had scored a goal in the third period of 15 consecutive games prior to being shut out at Los Angeles on Dec. 6, which is a franchise record.
