COLUMBUS, OHIO — The Columbus Blue Jackets and Verizon Wireless are teaming up to give fans the latest news and special offers from their favorite National Hockey League team through "Jackets Alerts," the Blue Jackets and Verizon Wireless announced November 26. Through the "Jackets Alerts" program, fans can sign up to have breaking team news, game information and exclusive offers sent directly to their Verizon Wireless phone. By texting the word JACKETS to 79376, fans will be automatically signed up for the 2008-09 season. Standard messaging rates apply and service availability is on a carrier by carrier basis and based on handset compatibility.
"Blue Jackets fans are extremely passionate and very tech savvy, so this program through our partners at Verizon Wireless is a great way to allow them to stay in touch with the team and Carry the Flag throughout the season," said Blue Jackets Director of Marketing J.D. Kershaw.
"Jackets Alert" subscribers will receive approximately 3-5 messages per week throughout the season and may unsubscribe at any time by replying STOP to any message received.

The Blue Jackets return home to Nationwide Arena tonight to take on the Phoenix Coyotes. Game time is set for 7 p.m. Live coverage on FOX Sports Ohio will begin with the Blue Jackets Live pre-game show starting at 6:30 p.m. The game will be also broadcast live on the Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship stations WBNS-AM, Sports Radio 1460 The Fan and WWCD-FM, CD101 beginning at 6:30 p.m.
