Blue Jackets reduce training camp roster to 49 players

COLUMBUS, OHIO -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have trimmed 14 players from their training camp roster, GM Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. The moves bring the club’s current roster to 49 players.

The following players were assigned to their respective major junior clubs – LW Paul Bittner (Portland/WHL), RW Keegan Kolesar (Seattle/WHL), D Olivier LeBlanc (Cape Breton/QMJHL), LW Julien Pelletier (Sherbrooke/QMJHL), D Sam Ruopp (Prince George/WHL), RW Kole Sherwood (London/OHL) and D Blake Siebenaler (Niagara/OHL).

The following players will join the American Hockey League’s Lake Erie Monsters – RW Seth Ambroz, LW Ryan Craig, C Peter Quenneville, G Brad Thiessen and LW Trent Vogelhuber, while D Veeti Vainio was returned to Blues of Finland’s Liiga. In addition, G Dustin Carlson was released from his tryout contract.

The Blue Jackets, who are 1-1-1 in the preseason, return to action Thursday when they host the Minnesota Wild.  Game time at Nationwide Arena is 7 p.m. ET. The game group will practice at 10 a.m, while the non-playing group will skate at 12 p.m.
