Blue Jackets recall defenseman Cody Goloubef from Springfield (AHL) under emergency conditions

COLUMBUS, OHIO -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled defenseman Cody Goloubef from the American Hockey League’s Springfield Falcons under emergency conditions, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Goloubef, 24, has scored six goals and dished out 14 assists for 20 points in 41 games played with Springfield this season. He has also registered a +9 plus/minus rating and 61 penalty minutes.

Columbus’ second pick, 37th overall, at the 2008 NHL Draft, Goloubef has registered 1-0-1 in 12 career appearances with the Blue Jackets and 17-45-62 in 176 career AHL games. He was named to the AHL’s 2014 All-Star Team on January 9 along with teammate Frederic St. Denis.

A native of Mississauga, Ontario, Goloubef played three seasons at the University of Wisconsin (WCHA) from 2007-10, registering 12-25-37, 138 penalty minutes and a cumulative +18 rating in 118 games played. During his junior season in 2009-10, he helped the Badgers reach the NCAA championship game. He also helped Team Canada win the gold medal at the 2009 World Junior Championships.

The Blue Jackets return to action tonight when the Buffalo Sabres visit Nationwide Arena for an Eastern Conference battle.
